Fraudster gets 6 months jail term for $4,100 internet scam


Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of Lagos State High Court, Ikeja has convicted Adeosun Olarewaju, after he was pronounced guilty of a two-count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent document and forgery preferred against him by EFCC. He was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment on each of the counts, to run concurrently.
The conviction stemmed from his guilty plea. He was arraigned before the court for fraudulently duping a foreigner of the sum of $4,100 in an inheritance scam. He initially pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned, but later changed his plea.
