According to Punch Metro, an airport worker, Chiwendu Nwobodo, 25, had a disagreement, their residence on Ogbomosho Street, Ijesha, Surulere, Lagos, with her neighbor, Iya Daniel, a puff-puff seller. During the quarrel, Chiwendu kicked away some puff-puff balls and Iya Daniel demanded N900 for the damage.
Her husband, Chogozie, was said to have agreed to pay for the damages. But after Chiwendu returned from work that day and was exiting the toilet where she had gone to relieve herself, Iya Daniel waylaid her and lavished a pail of hot groundnut oil on her.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital and Iya Daniel was arrested by policemen from the Ijesha division, but was later released on bail. Chigozie said Chiwendu lost the 2-month-old pregnancy meant to produce in their first child. Iya Daniel was subsequently re-arrested.
Chiwendu’s right ear is also discharging pus, while some parts of her face had peeled off. Chigozie says he wants the law to take its course as he wants Iya Daniel charged for the injury of his wife and murder of the unborn child.
