Virgin Atlantic Airways pulls out of Nigeria for the second time

British flag carrier, Virgin Atlantic Airways, has pulled out from Nigerian routes though the airline is yet to officially announce it. It has issued letters of disengagement to its Nigerian cabin crew. It has also shut down its call centre in Lagos.
It laid off all its Nigerian cabin crew after only giving them a 3-week notice and it didn’t pay them their severance package regardless of their length of service. The air-hostesses they sacked were about 20.
This is not the first time the airline is disappointed with doing business in Nigeria. In 2012, the chairman of Virgin Atlantic Airways, Sir Richard Branson, said he was very wary about doing business in Nigeria after they first pulled out.
