Pregnant woman who sneaked on a plane just to have her baby in U.S gives birth on plane, fined $32,000 and deported

Jian, a Taiwanese went into labour on a China Airlines flight going from Taipei to LA. She gave birth to a baby girl, but the flight had to be forced to divert to Anchorage, Alaska, so she could get proper medical attention. Jian has been deported but the baby remains in America with a family friend as she is too young to fly.
Jian only wanted her child to be born on US soil so they would qualify for automatic citizenship. Taiwan’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Chen Jian-yu, said the diversion and extra costs incurred came to more than $32,000 and Jian has to pay it back since she failed to tell the airline that she was 9 months pregnant.

While on the plane, she allegedly refused to lie flat to give birth and she kept asking “are we in America yet?” She was separated from her child on Saturday after the baby was awarded US citizenship.
