Nigerian woman becomes 1st African NYPD Police Inspector




The deputy Police inspector, Olufunmilola F Obe, was promoted to the rank of an inspector at NYPD headquarter in Manhattan on Friday, the 18th of December 2015. She started her career in 1992 as a 
Police Cadet. She became a police officer in February 1994.

She was promoted to Sergeant in December 2000. In July 2005, she became a Lieutenant. In 2008, she became a Captain and in June 2012 she became a Deputy Inspector. She has a Bsc in Computer Science from City College in New York and a Masters in Public Administration at Marist College.

Last year, she graduated from the Police Management Institute at Columbia University. She has been married to Peter Obe for 19 years and they have 3 children together, Ayodele, Tola and Timi.
