‘All those who have stolen our money, destroyed our wealth, let me hear you say judgment of the Lord will come upon them’

ABEOKUTA – A Cleric, Rev Dapo Asaju Sunday rained curses on any leader who engages in treasury looting resulting to the dwindling growth of the nation economy .
The Cleric said whoever amongst the past and present political office holders that has stolen the common wealth ‘would not know peace’.
Delivering a sermon titled. ‘Nigeria in the eyes and hands of Almighty God’at Cathedral of St Peters Church, Abeokuta, to mark the country independence Day Celebration.
Asaju who called on the congregation to continue to say amen to the curses, posited that, many of the so-called leaders both former and present ought to be in jail considering impunity exhibited in looting the nation treasury.
“All those who have stolen our money, they will never go unpunished. All those who have destroyed the wealth of Nigeria, putting people into problem, let me hear you say judgment of the Lord will come upon them. All those mortgaging future of our youths and children, God Almighty will punish them. The judgement of God descends on them’, he prayed .
The clergyman however, lamented that inspite of all resources available since Nigeria got its independence, some leaders have continued to destroy the prospects of the country.
“You see them going about with bullet proof, bullet proof can only protect you, but cannot protect you from bullet of God. If you see a leader who take a loan that cannot be offset during his tenure, that leader is only impoverishing the future of our children”, he said.
He noted that Lord Lugard who brought Nigeria together as a nation, knew best what informed his decision, but added further that, it was worrisome that 55 years after, the nation was yet to rise up to her feet, as a result of bad leadership.
‘We are leaderless country; we are behaving as if nothing is wrong. We are behaving as if we are mad. All is not well with Nigeria. Glory of the past is gone. For every money stolen, people are dying. How many leaders can walk the street without body guard?’
He also expressed shock over development where some would-be leaders had to visit the shrine, before getting to power, stating that, such act is an indication that, such leaders would and have abandoned God, and there was no way a success can come out from such administration.
However, he said, he did not blame President Muhammed Buhari over his delay in appointing cabinet members, stressing that the country lacks upright and sincere lieutenants, just as he equally warned that we should avoid religious war, as such may take the nation into oblivion.
‘No nation survive two wars, we have fought Biafra war, so let us avoid religious war or any other war, because such may lead to non existence of Nigeria, so we all have to be careful . I am of the conviction that God will return our glory’, Asaju emphasized.
