N13bn land scam: Okerenkoko community asks EFCC to probe Tompolo

On Saturday, while giving reasons why he hadn’t honored the EFCC’s invitation, Tompolo, admitted collecting N13bn from the GEJ led administration for some parcels of land to be used to build Maritime University land in Okerenkoko community, Warri, Delta State.
In his statement, he said: “I know why they are after me. It is not the alleged multi-billion naira property transaction. After all, it went through due process and was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). And as such if there are any questions to answer, it is the people at the FEC, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Federal Ministry of Lands and Survey, Federal Ministry of Transport, NIMASA, etc who approved the transaction that should be answering such questions.”
The leaders and people of Okerenkoko have now given their total support to the EFCC, in its probe of Tompolo, saying that now that he has admitted that he collected the N13bn, the EFCC should ask him why Okerenkoko was paid only N360m for the land.
They said Tompolo should tell Nigerians the whereabouts of the balance of over N12bn, urging the EFCC to invite Tompolo and also the immediate former ministers of the aforementioned ministries and agency to explain their respective roles in the transaction.
